Varieties of Marigold Seeds

There’s no denying that marigolds are some of the most beautiful flowers on Earth. Their gorgeous flowers are rich gold with slight hints of orange. They’re an easy flower to grow and sell and that’s exactly what has attracted so many farmers to marigolds.

But, just like any other seed, there’s a variety of marigold seeds to choose from. Each variety of marigold seed has different growing conditions, different hues, and different yields. Luckily East-West Seeds, a commercial marigold seed supplier, knows the ins and outs of every marigold seed on the market. We’ve worked to develop advanced technology that maximizes yield for all types of marigold seeds.

That being said, we’ve put together a quick rundown of a few common commercial marigold seeds. Here are a few of the most common varieties of marigold seeds:

Mega Orange F1

To begin, we’ll start with a unique variety of marigold seeds, the Mega Orange F1. First and foremost, this variety of marigold seed has an extremely vibrant color. Unlike its brothers and sisters, the Mega Orange F1 has an overwhelmingly orange hue. Marigolds are known for their strong gold color, but the Mega Orange F1 has a distinct orange influence.

The Mega Orange F1 reaches full maturity in 40-45 days. This flower also delivers large, compact, fully double flowers. This provides an advantage to this marigold seed because these large flowers are less likely to be damaged during transportation. And if you’ve ever transported flowers before, you understand how delicate they can be. The Mega Orange F1 marigold is great for harvesting and even as a decoration!

Maxima Yellow

Unlike the Mega Orange F1, the Maxima Yellow marigold has a stunning bright yellow color. Its color is most definitely the first thing that catches the eye. This marigold seed variety is great for harvesting or just simple pot flowers. The Maxima Yellow reaches maturity in about 45-50 days.

The Maxima Yellow marigold is perfect for warmer environments. This marigold variety has very good adaptability for hotter environments - perfect if you’re looking for a flower that can survive the blistering heat found in some areas of the world. Like the Mega Orange F1, the Maxima Yellow’s flowers are fully double yet compact. The overall look of this marigold variety is extremely bushy yet subtle.

Sunrise Yellow F1

The Sunrise Yellow F1 is similar in color to the Maxima Yellow. It has a startling yellow hue resembling a sunrise, hence its name. Like the other varieties, the Sunrise Yellow F1 has fully double flowers.

Where this marigold variety stands out is in its size. The Sunrise Yellow F1 flowers are no average size. They average about 8-12cm in diameter. They have a strong vigor and are also ideal for long transports since they have such a long shelf life. These flowers are extremely productive and are perfect for a variety of purposes.

Mega Gold F1

The Mega Gold F1, like the others, has a unique stunning color. The Mega Gold F1 carries a color similar to the Mega Orange F1 but deeper golden yellow in nature. This variety of marigold produces good strong branches with flowers ranging from 8cm to 12cm in diameter.

Like the Sunrise Yellow F1, these flowers are easy to transport due to their compact fully double flowers. The Mega Gold F1 is a hybrid with a strong vigor. They’re perfect for harvesting or decorative pot plants.
